Colour fading on denim clothes in washing machine

There has always been a problem with fading on jeans, or other coloured heavy clothes.  Some fading is not a problem, as jeans are acceptable at whatever shade of blue they are, but it is more of a problem when you see white steaks appearing.  This problem is not only associated with denim item, but other thicker clothes can also show similar signs.

As you have probably guessed this is not a fault of the washing machine itself but can be caused by overloading your machine, and this is certainly something you can remedy quickly.

Another cause could be when thicker items get rubbed together during the wash cycle.  This problem may be improved by washing items inside out, as that will mean most of the white streaks are more likely on the inside and will not show so much on the outside of the fabric.

You could also think about the actual programme you use for these items, and it may be more suitable to use a woollen wash cycle.  This does sound a little strange but it will be more gentle on these items.
