How to change a water softener unit (salt container) on an Indesit Dishwasher
- Safety First:Remove the Plug from the Mains Socket
- Tools required:Phillips Screwdriver and a pair of pliers
- Indesit DI620 Integrated Dishwasher
- Lay the appliance on its side to expose the base
- Using the phillips screwdriver remove the base retaining screws
- Remove further base retaining screws
- Carefully pull the base out a small amount
- Locate the overflow unit on the inside of the base
- Make a note of the wires and remove them, now remove the base
- Locate the water softening unit
- Make a note of the wires (a photograph is useful) and remove them
- Wires removed
- Grip the small grey pipe & remove it
- Small grey pipe removed from the water softener unit
- Using the pliers release the corbin clip retaining the small black pipe
- Corbin clip removed
- Grip the small black pipe & remove it
- Small black pipe removed from the water softener unit
- From inside the appliance remove the salt container cap
- Salt cap removed
- Remove the water softener unit retaining ring
- Retaining ring removed
- From the bottom of the appliance grip the water softener unit
- Remove the water softener unit
- Using the pliers release the corbin clip retaining the hose from the sump
- Grip the hose & remove it from the water softener unit
- Hose removed from the water softener unit
- Water softener unit removed from appliance
- Take the new water softener unit (salt container) from its package ensuring its correct for the appliance
- Replace the hose connecting the water softener unit to the sump
- Make sure its pushed all the way onto the water softener unit
- Using the pliers refit the corbin clip
- Fit the new water softener unit to the appliance
- Make sure the water softener unit is in the correct position
- From inside the appliance fit the water softener retaining ring
- Screw the retaining ring as tight as possible by hand
- Retaining ring in place
- Fit the salt cap
- Salt cap in place
- Fit the small black hose to the water softener unit
- Push the hose all the way onto the water softener unit
- Using the pliers refit the corbin clip
- Fit the small grey hose to the water softener unit
- Push the hose all the way on
- Attach the wires to the new water softener unit
- Wires attached
- Water softener unit in place
- Replace the wires to the overflow float micro switch
- Wires attached
- Replace the base
- Using the phillips screwdriver replace the base retaining screws
- Replace further base retaining screws
- Now stand the appliance upright
- The appliance is now ready for use
