How to change the belt on a tumble dryer
- Safety first remove plug from the mains socket
- Tools:Phillips & flat screwdriver an 8mm spanner & socket and a pair of pliers
- Using the phillips screwdriver remove 2 retaining screws to remove the lid.
- From the front give the lid a firm push backwards
- Now remove the lid
- Remove water container
- Remove the 4 retaining screws from the rear of side panels
- Remove the retaining screw from the top of side panels
- Slide the side panels backwards and remove them
- Using the phillips screwdriver remove 2 screws and remove the bearing cover
- Using the phillips screwdriver remove 6 screws and remove the heater casing
- Casing removed
- Using the flat head screwdriver remove the jubilee clip to the recirculating fan
- Remove the recirculating fan
- Using the 8mm socket remove 4 bolts securing the motor
- Remove the wires from the cooling fan housing
- Wires removed
- Un-clip and remove the cooling fan housing
- Remove the inlet ring
- Using the pliers remove the corbin clip retaining the cooling fan
- Remove the cooling fan
- Using an 8mm spanner remove a bolt from belt tensioner and release the other
- Release the belt tensioner from the motor
- Remove the belt from the tensioner
- Remove the belt from the tensioner
- Lift the motor and ease the belt between the spindle and the plastic casing
- Remove pipe from the water container inlet
- Un-clip pipe from the water container housing.
- Twist and remove the water container inlet
- Remove a pipe from the water container housing
- Remove 2 screws securing the water container housing rear
- Remove 2 screws at the rear of the side strap
- At the drum bearing using the pliers unfold the retaining pin
- Remove the retaining pin from the drum spindle
- Remove castellated nut
- Castellated nut removed
- Lift the belt over the back of the drum
- Support the drum with a block of wood
- Pull the rear casing away from the drum and remove the belt
- Take the new belt from its package ensuring its correct for the appliance
- Pull the rear casing away from the drum and slide the new belt behind the drum
- Slide the belt under the drum
- Lift the belt over the drum and locate the drum spindle into the rear casing
- Replace castellated nut
- Replace retaining pin
- Fold retaining pin around castellated nut. Remove the block of wood under drum.
- Replace 2 screws at the rear of the side strap
- Replace 2 screws securing the water container housing rear
- Replace pipe to the water container housing
- Replace water container inlet and twist into place
- Re clip pipe into the water container housing.
- Replace pipe onto the water container inlet
- Lift the motor and ease the belt between the spindle and the plastic casing
- Using the 8mm socket replace 4 bolts securing the motor
- Place the belt over the tensioner pully
- Connect the belt to the tensioner pully
- Connect the tensioner to the motor
- Replace the bolt & tighten both bolts with the 8mm spanner
- Replace the cooling fan
- Using the pliers replace the corbin clip retaining the cooling fan
- Refit the inlet ring
- Refit the cooling fan housing
- Clip the cooling fan housing into position
- Replace the wires into the cooling fan housing
- Replace the recirculating fan
- Using the flat head screwdriver replace the clip to the recirculating fan
- Replace the heater casing
- Using the phillips screwdriver replace 6 screws to the heater casing
- Refit bearing cover and replace 2 screws
- Relocate the side panels at the bottom and slide forward
- Replace top retaining screw to side panels
- Replace the 4 rear retaining screws to side panels
- Replace water container
- Refit the lid
- Give the lid a firm push forwards until it clicks into place.
- Replace the 2 lid retaining screws
