How to change the Heater Element on an Indesit Tumble Dryer

We are going to run through how to replace a heater element on an Indesit tumble dryer.

  1. Safety First:Remove the Plug from the Mains Socket

  2. Tools required:Phillips screwdriver & a pair of side cutters

  3.  INDESIT Model IS70C

  4. Using the phillips screwdriver remove the 2 lid retaining screws

  5. From the front push the lid back to disengage it

  6. From the back lift the lid and remove it

  7. Using the phillips screwdriver remove 4 side panel retaining screws

  8. Using the phillips screwdriver remove 1 further side panel retaining screw

  9. Slide the side panel backwards

  10. Remove the side panel from its lugs at the bottom

  11. Make a note of the wires (a photograph is useful)

  12. Using the side cutters cut the cable tie

  13. Separate the heater electric connecting terminal

  14. Using the phillips screwdriver remove the 2 drum bearing cover retaining screws

  15. Drum bearing cover removed

  16. Using the phillips screwdriver remove the heater cover retaining screws

  17. Remove the heater cover and pull the wire terminal through the rear casing

  18. The heater can now be found attached to the inside of the heater cover

  19. Remove the plastic wire clip from the casing

  20. Turn the casing over to remove the 2 heater retaining screws

  21. Heater removed from casing

  22. Take the new heater from its package ensuring its correct for the appliance

  23. Fit the new heater inside the heater cover and fit the wire clip into the casing

  24. Replace the 2 heater retaining screws

  25. New heater in place and ready to be fitted to appliance

  26. Feed the electric terminal block through the rear casing

  27. Position the heater cover onto the appliance and replace the retaining screws

  28. Using the phillips screwdriver replace the drum bearing cover & retaining screws
    IS70C Heater 4 (Small)
  29. Refit the electrical terminal block
    IS70C Heater 3 (Small)
  30. Using a cable tie secure the wires to the capacitor 
    IS70C Heater 13 (Small)
  31. Wires secured with a cable tie
    IS70C Heater 14 (Small)
  32. Relocate the side panel into the lugs at the bottom of the appliance

  33. Slide the side panel forwards
    IS70C Side Panel 3 (Small)
  34. Replace the top retaining screw to the side panel
    IS70C Side Panel 2 (Small)
  35. Replace the rear retaining screws to the side panel
    IS70C Side Panel 1 (Small)
  36. Replace the lid
    IS70C Lid 3 (Small)
  37. Push the lid forward to engage it and replace the 2 retaining screws
