How to change the oven grill element on a cooker, Ariston, Creda, Hotpoint, Indesit
- Safety First:Remove the Plug from the Mains Socket
- Tools Required: A Phillips screwdriver
- Indesit (BIMS31KABIX)
- Open the door
- Remove the oven grid
- Remove the oven drip tray
- Locate the rear panel
- Using the phillips screwdriver remove the rear panel retaining screws
- Remove further rear panel retaining screws
- Remove further rear panel retaining screws
- Remove further rear panel retaining screws
- Tilt the rear panel outwards
- Locate the terminal block on the inside of the rear panel
- Make a note of the wires (a photograph is useful) and remove them
- Wires removed now remove the rear panel
- Rear panel removed
- Locate the terminals to the oven grill element and remove the wires
- Wire removed from terminal
- Wire removed from terminal on the opposite side
- Remove the earth wire from the terminal
- Wires removed from both terminals and earth terminal
- Using the phillips screwdriver remove the element retaining screws
- Retaining screw removed
- Remove further element and thermostat retaining screws
- Pull the thermostat away from the element
- Retaining screw and thermostat removed
- Locate the element on the inside of the oven
- Make a note of how the wire rod rests on the oven sides
- Pull the wire rod evenly on both sides to remove the element
- Pull the element away from its location at the rear of the oven
- Remove the element from the oven
- Oven grill element removed
- Take the new element from its package ensuring its correct for the appliance
- Fit the oven grill element into the oven
- Feed the element terminals into the holes at the rear of the oven
- Push the wire rod evenly on both sides until the element is in place
- Make sure the wire rods are located properly on both sides
- New element in position inside the oven
- At the rear locate the element
- Slide the oven thermostat over the element terminal
- Position the element retaining screw
- Using the phillips screwdriver tighten the element retaining screw
- Position the element retaining screw on the opposite side
- Using the phillips screwdriver tighten the element retaining screw
- Fit the earth wire onto the element
- Fit the wire onto the element terminal
- Fit the wire onto the element terminal on the opposite side
- Reconnect the wire to the terminal block situated on the rear panel
- Wires reconnected
- Reposition the back panel onto the appliance
- Using the phillips screwdriver replace the rear panel retaining screws
- Replace further rear panel retaining screws
- Replace further rear panel retaining screws
- Replace further rear panel retaining screws
- Rear panel in place
- Replace the oven drip tray
- Replace the oven grid
- The appliance is now ready for use
