Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week
We are supporting Carbon Monoxide (CO) Awareness Week 2010 which has been organised by the charity CO-Awareness. CO-Awareness aims to educate people about the effects of CO and is dedicated to the support of CO victims.
Every year people die from Carbon Monoxide poisoning and many become seriously ill. Common symptoms include headaches and drowsiness which are often thought to be a cold or flu.
Carbon Monoxide is a highly poisonous gas that has no colour, taste or smell making it difficult to recognise. It can be produced by household appliances that use gas, wood, oil or coal when they have not been installed properly or maintained regularly.
Carbon Monoxide can be detected by fitting an audible carbon monoxide alarm at a central location in your house.
