I had already carried out a repair on my bread maker the previous year (fitted a replacement motor run capacitor) and so I was already familiar with taking the machine apart. I applied a high temperature grease (brake component grease) to the shaft of the new connector component prior to fitting. The process of fitting is very easy and the design tolerances ensure a perfect fit. The machine is now fully functioning and runs very smoothly. The plastic on the replacement component appeared to be more shiny and less dense than the original. It sounded thin and more brittle. However, it might be that the original had hardened with age and cooking temperature to have the structure and appearance of 'bakelite'; time will tell if the replacement is as good as the original.
