I need to confirm this OK. See below

I need to get a thermostat for top oven Hotpoint BD52N.

I thought had located one with Hotpoint but the one they sent I am now told is not suitable and that correct one obsolete.

    The s/n is

    21 100079

On this model the thermostat fits behind a multi selector switch which controls the temp in top oven & then selects half grill & full grill.

      Hello Paddy

This part C00240124 is now the only one available for the BD52N top oven.

The alternative version which is a direct replacement for your existing thermostat has been made obsolete.

The information I have suggests it is the suitable part.

Please take a look at the exploded diagram I have attached. Is the part you require number 221? This is controlled from the second knob from the left.

Are you able to send an image of your existing part?

    Answer this Question
  • Sam,

    Thank you.

Diagram looks like what I saw when I partly slid out oven.

If switch 222 rotates beyond travel of stat & there are only 2 connections plus earth we may be ok.

Hotpoint supplied this but then said original obsolete & gave no further help.

You agree original obsolete but suggest that this will suit.

    Your help is greatly appreciated.

Pictue does not really show connections.

Please can you advise the number of the other part you require from the exploded diagram previously uploaded. I can then see if there is further information available.

Oven door seal can be found here
        http://www.yourspares.co.uk/parts/ys17091/indesit-top-oven-door-seal-C00199577.aspx

I have located this information on testing a door seal.

Using a note or thin piece of paper is a great way to check the health of your oven door seal. Visually inspect it to start with, and make note of any cracks, tears, holes or areas where it may have come loose from the door itself. Any of these conditions indicate that the gasket needs to be replaced in the near future. Next, take your note or piece of paper and place it partway across the seal, then close the door. Leave enough of the note showing in order to get a good grip on it for the test. Once the door has closed, gently pull on the note. You should feel a slight resistance that prevents the note from sliding out easily. If you don’t feel any resistance, you’ve found a weak spot. Repeat this around the entire perimeter of the door.
