Washing machine lens

Hi i have a Hotpoint WT965 and the front screen display has become very faint (flickers and goes out) and has now lost its "backlight". Will replacing the lens as advertised be the whole display and cure the backlight problem. It has no other faults and is becoming impossible to read.
