Great item. Build quality is fantastic considering the price!
I bought two so I can have Stereo in the garden.
If you are powering just off the iPod/iPad/iPhone (or any other mobile device) the maximum volume is 'ambient'. You will need some sort of amp to power them to get 'louder' volume playback if you wish.
You can get really cheap 20w amps that are usually designed for Cars/Boats etc for around £10 and it is worth it.
Alternatively if you plug them into a Stereo then you are fine and will not need an amp.
