- How to change the carbon brushes holder on a washing machine Hotpoint WMA60P
- Safety FirstRemove the Plug from the Mains Socket
- Tools required: T15 torx screwdriver & a 13mm spanner
- Using the T15 torx remove the screws retaining the lower back panel
- Lower back panel removed
- Remove 2 screw cover caps on either side of the appliance
- Using the T15 torx screwdriver remove 2 screws retaining the lid
- Lift the lid a small amount
- Push the lid backwards a small amount and remove it
- Lid removed
- From the top locate the drive belt at the rear of the appliance
- Grip the drive belt at the same time rotate the drum pulley to remove the belt
- Now remove the drive belt from the drive shaft
- With the belt released from the drum pulley and drive shaft remove the belt
- Using a soft cloth for protection lay the machine on its face (a folded dustsheet is useful)
- Using a 13mm spanner remove 2 Motor retaining bolts
- Using a 13mm spanner remove 2 Motor retaining bolts
- With bolts removed now remove the motor from the drum casing
- Make a note of the wires (a photograph is useful) and remove them
- Wires removed
- Motor removed
- Locate the carbon brush holder on the Motor
- Remove the single wire to the carbon brush
- Wire removed
- Using the phillips screwdriver remove 2 retaining screws on each holder
- Remove the carbon brush holder
- Carbon brush holder removed
- Take the Carbon Brushes from its package ensuring its correct for the appliance
- Locate the new carbon brush holder onto the motor
- Using the phillips screwdriver fit the retaining screws securing the holder
- Fit the single wire onto the new carbon brush
- New carbon brush holder in place
- Fit the wires to the motor
- Locate the Motor into position on the drum housing
- Locate the Motor retaining bolts
- Using the 13mm spanner tighten both Motor retaining bolts do not over tighten
- Stand the machine up and from the top feed the belt down past the drum pulley
- Position the drive belt over the drive shaft
- Position the drive belt over the drum pulley while rotating the drum pulley
- The drive belt should be fitting centrally on the drum pulley
- The drive belt should be fitting centrally on the drive shaft
- Replace the lid
- Using the T15 torx screwdriver replace 2 screws retaining the lid
- Replace 2 screw cover caps on either side of the appliance
- Using the T15 torx screwdriver replace the screws retaining the lower back panel
