How to change the drain pump on a washing machine Hotpoint WMA60P
- Safety FirstRemove the Plug from the Mains Socket
- Tools required: Mole grips and a T15 torx screwdriver
- Smear a small amount of sealant around hoses where indicated
- Using a soft cloth for protection lay the machine on its face (a folded dustsheet is useful)
- Using the T15 screwdriver remove the screws retaining the lower back panel
- Lower back panel removed
- Locate the Drain Pump through the aperture
- Using the mole grip release the corbin clip securing the hose to the drain pump
- Corbin clip removed
- Remove the sump hose from the drain pump
- Using the mole grips release the corbin clip securing the drain hose
- Grip the drain hose and remove it from the drain pump
- Both hoses removed from the drain pump
- Grip the drain pump and slightly tilt it to release retaining tab
- Now slide the drain pump along the bottom casing to release it
- With the drain pump in this position it can be removed
- Remove the drain pump
- Make a note of the wires (a photograph is useful) and remove them
- Drain pump and wires removed
- Take the new drain pump from its package ensuring its correct for the appliance

- Locate the new drain pump into the casing
- With the drain pump in this position slide it along the casing
- Slide the drain pump along the casing until it clicks into position
- Make sure the small plastic tab locates into the casing
- Smear a small amount of sealant inside the drain hose and push it onto the pump
- Using the mole grips replace the corbin clip securing the drain hose
- Smear a small amount of sealant inside the sump hose and push it onto the pump
- Push the hose well onto the drain pump
- Using the mole grip fit the corbin clip securing the sump hose to the drain pump
- Using the T15 screwdriver replace the screws retaining the lower back panel
- The machine can now be stood up
