How to change the drum on a tumble dryer
How to change the drum on a tumble dryer- Safety first remove plug from mains socket
- Tools required are a phillips screwdriver an 8mm spanner and a pair of pliers
- Using the phillips screwdriver remove 2 retaining screws to remove the lid.
- From the front give the lid a firm push backwards
- Now remove the lid
- Remove the 4 retaining screws from the rear of side panels
- Remove the retaining screw from the top of side panels
- Slide the side panels backwards and remove them
- Using an 8mm spanner remove bolt from belt tensioner and release the other
- Release the belt tensioner from the motor
- Remove the belt from the tensioner
- Remove water container
- Remove pipe from water container inlet
- Unclip pipe from water container housing.
- Twist and remove water container inlet
- Remove pipe from water container housing
- Remove 2 screws securing the water container housing rear
- Remove 2 screws securing the water container housing front
- Remove the water container housing
- Remove 2 outer screws to release the side strap from the front casing
- Using the phillips screwdriver remove 5 screws from the front panel
- Remove 3 further screws
- Separate the front panel from the air duct and remove it
- Front panel removed
- Carefully release the air duct from the drum
- Air duct removed from drum
- Remove the air duct from the base
- Remove 2 screws and remove bearing cover
- Using the pliers unfold the retaining pin
- Remove the retaining pin
- Remove castellated nut
- Castellated nut removed
- Lift the belt over the back of the drum and remove the drum
- Drum removed
- Take the new drum from its package ensuring its correct for the appliance
- Lift the belt over the new drum and locate the drum into the rear bearing
- Replace castellated nut
- Replace castellated nut
- Replace retaining pin
- Fold retaining pin around castellated nut
- Refit bearing cover and replace 2 screws
- Replace the air duct into the base
- Refit the air duct into the drum
- Fit the air duct into the drum
- Replace the front panel and attach it to the air duct
- Replace 2 outer screws to retain the side strap to the front casing
- Using the phillips screwdriver replace 5 screws to the front panel
- Replace 3 further screws
- Replace the water container housing
- Replace 2 screws securing the water container housing front
- Replace 2 screws securing the water container housing rear
- Replace pipe from water container housing
- Replace water container inlet and twist into place
- Re clip pipe into water container housing.
- Replace pipe onto water container inlet
- Replace water container
- Connect the belt to the tensioner
- Connect the tensioner to the motor
- Replace the bolt & tighten both bolts to the tensioner with the 8mm spanner
- Relocate the side panels at the bottom and slide forward
- Replace top retaining screw to side panels
- Replace the 4 rear retaining screws to side panels
- Refit the lid
- Give the lid a firm push forwards until it clicks into place.
- Replace the 2 lid retaining screws
