How to change the motor on a tumble dryer
How to change the motor on a tumble dryer- Safety first remove the plug from the mains socket.

- Tools: Phillips & flat screwdriver an 8mm socket & spanner and a pair of pliers

- Hotpoint CTD00

- Using the phillips screwdriver remove the 2 retaining screws to the top lid.

- From the front give the top lid a good push.

- Now remove the lid.

- Using the phillips screwdriver remove the retaining screws to the side panel.

- Remove the top screw to the side panel.

- Now remove the side panel.

- Make a note of the wires (A photograph is useful)

- Remove or cut the cable tie holding the wires

- Now remove the wires

- Wires removed

- Using the pliers release the cable clip attached to the heater casing

- Using the phillips screwdriver remove 2 screws and the small bearing casing

- Using the phillips screwdriver remove the screws and remove the heater casing.

- Remove the heater casing with heater attached and pull wires through machine.

- Using a flat headed screwdriver remove the jubilee clamp retaining the recirculation fan

- Remove the recirculation fan

- Remove the wires from the cooling fan housing

- Wires removed

- Un clip and remove the cooling fan housing

- Remove inlet ring

- Using a pair of pliers remove the corbin clip retaining the cooling fan

- Remove the cooling fan

- Using an 8mm spanner remove 1 bolt and release the other to the belt tensioner

- Un clip the belt tensioner from the motor

- Remove the belt from the belt tensioner

- Make a note of the wires (a photograph is useful) and remove them

- Make a note of the wires (a photograph is useful) and remove them

- Wires Removed

- Using an 8mm socket remove 4 bolts retaining the motor

- Remove the motor

- Motor removed

- Take the new motor from its package ensuring its correct for the appliance

- Replace the motor

- Using an 8mm socket replace 4 bolts retaining the motor and tighten them

- Now you can replace the wires

- Replace the wires to the capacitor

- Reconnect the wires

- Replace the belt to the belt tensioner

- Relocate the belt tensioner to the motor

- Using an 8mm spanner replace 1 bolt and tighten both bolts to the belt tensioner

- Replace the cooling fan

- Using a pair of pliers replace the corbin clip retaining the cooling fan

- Replace inlet ring

- Replace the cooling fan housing

- Cooling fan housing replaced

- Relocate the wires into the recess on the cooling fan housing

- Replace the recirculation fan

- Using a flat headed screwdriver replace the jubilee clamp retaining the fan

- Push the wires through the hole and refit the heater casing to the appliance.

- Using the phillips screwdriver replace the retaining screws to the heater casing

- Using the phillips screwdriver replace the small casing securing with 2 screws.

- Now replace the heater wires

- Wires replaced

- Now refit or renew the cable tie.

- Cable tie in place

- Locate the side panel into place.

- Using the phillips screwdriver replace the top screw to the side panel.

- Using the phillips screwdriver replace the rear screws to the side panel.

- Replace the lid.

- From the rear push the lid forward into place and secure with 2 retaining screws

- The appliance is now ready for use.
